Mihály Zichy
He was a significant representative of 19th century Hungarian and European painting. Zichy was a very successful painter and received numerous commissions in Wien, Paris and Saint Petersburg. He attended the school of the Venetian painter, Jacopo Marastoni and became the pupil of the famous painter Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller in Vienna, he fulfilled the expectations regarding his talent from the beginning. As the most talented pupil of Waldmüller Zichy became the master’s assistant in his private studio from 1845 onwards. Unfortunately, only a few of his works executed in Vienna between 1844 and 1847 are known, most of them only from the records of the artist himself.
