About the artist

Atena-Elena Simionescu is a professor and Ph.D. at the Department of Fine Arts – Graphic Design, within the Faculty of Visual Arts and Design at the "George Enescu" National University of Arts in Iași. Her artistic creation and research activity focus on the analysis and development of experimental printmaking, illustration, and graphic construction.
She has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions and has showcased her work in museums and galleries worldwide. Some of her notable achievements include:
Exhibited at the Second Edition of the Romanian Graphics and Photography Salon, organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute and the "Inter-Art" Foundation, New York (2015)
"Anatomy of Memory" exhibition at the Five Plus Art Gallery in Vienna (2015)
Public Award at the European Triennial of Contemporary Printmaking – Estampadura in Rignac (Aveyron) (2013)
JAWK II Prize at the International Woodcut Triennial "Kiwa" in Kyoto (2007).
