TOM FORD is a global luxury design house founded in 2005 by American designer and filmmaker Tom Ford, together with his long-time business partner Domenico De Sole. Built around a distinctive vision of contemporary glamour, the brand has developed an internationally recognizable aesthetic defined by sophisticated tailoring, sensuality, precision, and a confident approach to modern luxury.
From its beginnings, TOM FORD was conceived as a multidisciplinary luxury brand. Its first partnerships included Marcolin for eyewear and The Estée Lauder Companies for beauty. In 2007, the first TOM FORD flagship store opened on Madison Avenue in New York, coinciding with the debut of the brand's menswear and accessories collections. Womenswear followed in 2010, expanding the house's distinctive visual language across both men's and women's fashion.
Over time, the brand expanded across fashion, accessories, eyewear, fragrance, cosmetics, and beauty, establishing a presence in more than 100 markets worldwide. Across these different fields, TOM FORD developed a coherent identity combining meticulous craftsmanship with cinematic sophistication and a bold, highly controlled visual aesthetic.
A significant new chapter began in 2023, when The Estée Lauder Companies acquired TOM FORD and became the sole owner of the brand and its intellectual property. Under the resulting structure, Ermenegildo Zegna Group operates TOM FORD FASHION through a long-term license, while Marcolin holds the license for TOM FORD EYEWEAR.
The house entered another creative phase in 2024 with the appointment of Haider Ackermann as Creative Director. Responsible for menswear, womenswear, accessories, and eyewear, Ackermann was entrusted with developing the house's visual language while building upon the identity established by its founder.
Today, TOM FORD represents a distinctive intersection of fashion, design, beauty, and visual culture, maintaining the refined yet provocative approach that has defined the house since its creation.
