
Ion Nedelcu - NED
Ion Nedelcu, known by the pseudonym NED, is a Romanian visual artist born on January 26, 1946, in Orlești, Vâlcea County. He graduated from the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest in 1975, specializing in film and television scenography.
Throughout his career, NED has explored a wide range of artistic expressions, including scenography, drawing, graphic art, painting, sculpture, fashion design, interior design, architectural design, and restoration. He is a member of the Romanian Union of Visual Artists, the Romanian Filmmakers Union, and the California Society of Visual Artists.
In the field of cinema, NED has designed sets and costumes for over 30 films, working with renowned actors such as Toma Caragiu, Marin Moraru, and Draga Olteanu Matei. Some of the notable films he contributed to include “Operation Monster”, “Iancu Jianu: The Outlaw”, “Declaration of Love”, “The High Schoolers”, and “Pop Quiz for the Class Teacher.”
In December 2022, the Bucharest National Opera hosted the painting exhibition “NED 77 – Anniversary Collection”, celebrating the artist’s birthday. The event featured a selection of his representative works and welcomed special guests from the music and theatre worlds.
