
Florin Mircea Zaharescu
Florin Mircea Zaharescu is a Romanian visual artist, born on July 3, 1949, in Sibiu. He attended the High School of Fine Arts in Ploiești between 1956 and 1968, and continued his studies at the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, graduating in 1974.
Throughout his career, Zaharescu has embraced various forms of artistic expression, including sculpture, painting, graphic arts, ceramics, and iconography. He is recognized for his ability to transform materials such as stone, bronze, steel, synthetic resin, and clay into remarkable works of art.
Among his notable creations are monuments dedicated to prominent figures, such as the statue of Sergiu Celibidache and the monument of Roman I Mușat.
In February 2021, the Art Museum in Roman hosted a solo painting exhibition by the artist, during which an album was also launched, featuring a collection of his works in sculpture, painting, and graphic art.
For his significant contributions to Romanian art, Florin Mircea Zaharescu was named Artist of the Year 2023.
